Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy Sunrise

Experience the future of non-invasive healing with ESWT therapy in Sunrise at Thera Cave, where advanced technology and personalized care are combined to deliver exceptional results. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) uses high-energy shockwaves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes in targeted areas of pain or injury. Originally developed to treat kidney stones, ESWT has become a leading option for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and tennis elbow. By creating controlled microtrauma, ESWT promotes tissue regeneration, enhances blood circulation, and supports faster recovery—helping you avoid surgery and lengthy rehabilitation.

Clinical research continues to highlight the powerful effectiveness of ESWT, especially for complex bone healing. A comprehensive analysis of 924 patients across 10 studies reported a 76% overall bone union rate for delayed union and nonunion fractures, providing hope for patients struggling with persistent injuries. At Thera Cave in Sunrise, we proudly offer ESWT as part of our evidence-based treatment options, helping you achieve faster healing, reduced pain, and improved mobility. Our expert team tailors each therapy plan to your specific needs, ensuring you receive the highest level of care on your journey to lasting recovery.

Q&A

ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions. It involves applying shock waves to the affected area to promote tissue repair and alleviate discomfort.

ESWT works by delivering high-energy shock waves to the targeted area. These waves penetrate the tissues and stimulate cellular repair processes, enhance blood flow, and reduce inflammation, which helps in relieving pain and promoting healing.

ESWT can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, shoulder pain, Achilles tendinitis, and other chronic musculoskeletal issues. It is often used when other conservative treatments have been ineffective.

ESWT is generally well-tolerated by most patients. Some individuals may experience mild discomfort during the treatment, but it is usually brief and manageable. The level of discomfort can vary depending on the area being treated and individual sensitivity.

An ESWT session typically takes between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the condition being treated and the specific protocols used. The number of sessions required can vary based on the severity of the condition and the patient’s response to therapy.

The number of ESWT sessions needed varies depending on the condition and individual response to treatment. Most patients require a series of sessions, usually between 3 to 6, to achieve optimal results.

After an ESWT session, you may experience mild soreness or tenderness in the treated area, which typically resolves within a few days. Many patients resume normal activities immediately following the treatment.

ESWT is generally safe with minimal side effects. Some patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or bruising in the treated area. These effects are usually mild and resolve on their own.

Yes, ESWT can be combined with other treatments such as physical therapy, medications, or lifestyle modifications to enhance overall effectiveness and improve outcomes.

Coverage for ESWT varies by insurance provider and plan. It is advisable to check with your insurance company to confirm if ESWT is covered and to understand any potential out-of-pocket costs.

Without a doubt this is the best Physical Therapy experience I have ever had (and I have had several). I have worked with Ayoub Zianai (AZ) and Hesham Abdel-Salam and they are both consummate professionals. A very thorough evaluation was done to start and a treatment plan reviewed. So much more extensive than other PT facilities which just take the referring Dr's prescription and assign exercises. Each week we discuss what is happening and modifications are made if necessary. Both practitioners are easy to speak with and very caring. I highly recommend TheraCave!

I can’t recommend Theracave enough! I came in with herniated discs in my neck that were causing arm pain and making it difficult to work out at all. Hesham took a truly one-on-one approach, helping me understand where the pain was coming from and working on strengthening the areas of my back that needed support. He told me he’d get me back in the gym, and after about 18 sessions, I’m slowly getting back to running and lifting weights with so much more confidence. I also worked with Ayoub, who is lovely, attentive and patient. Both made me feel heard and supported throughout the process. The medical massages made a huge difference, with some of my pain going away and never returning, and the dry needling helped loosen things up. What stands out most is their gentle, science-backed and detail-oriented approach. It’s clear they understand the body and take the time to address what’s actually causing your symptoms. If you’re working toward a goal and want truly personalized care, I highly recommend them!
